Moon Occultation of Mars Tuesday February 18, 2020The Moon occulted Mars on the morning of Tuesday February 18, 2020. The lit portion of the Moon covered Mars at approximately 04:38 hours Mountain Standard Time (MST) as seen from the 3towers Observatory. Mars reappered from the unlit edge of the Moon at approximately 05:39 hours MST. Portions of the occultation were imaged with the observatory's C-11 HyperStar telescope combination coupled with a Canon 7D Mark II camera set at ISO 1600. The Moon's age was between 24 days 12 hours 50 minutes and 24 days 14 hours 15 minutes. The sky was clear with no wind. The Moon was low in the southeast, altitude 11-13 degrees.
